Well, I already have a Q6600 and Vista HP 64bit

I am still shaky on which motherboard to go with, but will decide in a day or two, in any case, these are my choices for ram that I seem to be able to get in my area

$337.63 - Mushkin HP PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-4-4-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit Part #: 996564 - Micron D9GSV (B7-3)

or

$229.99 - Mushkin EM PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-18 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit 996557

$219.99 - G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
(F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ)

$229.99 - G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ PC2-8000 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit (F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ) 229.99

$277.63 - Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 EPP Dual Channel Memory Kit PDC24G6400ELK

I am pretty sure only the Mushkin 996564 uses Micron chips on this list, but if I am going to be running at 400 or less does it even matter? I guess I could use tighter timings but it's a $100 premium to get slightly better timings.

Thanks for your help, this will be my first new computer in a while but I have been trying to keep up to date on everything.

that g.skill 2x2gb ddr2-1000 kit can be bought for $189 on newegg. where are you getting these kits? are they CAD?

if you are running at 400 you don't need such expensive mushkin ram, you can get away with ddr2-800 unless you plan to OC.

if i were you i would get the g.skill ddr2-1000 from newegg for $189 so if you do want to OC, your ram will already be fast enough so that you can just OC your cpu. it seems like the best deal out there for 2x2gb right now.

Ya, Canadian heh, though I am in the process of getting a US credit card with a US billing address and a US shipping address so that I won't have to deal with the disparity anymore.

So for me it's 10 bucks extra to get either the EM PC2-6400 Muskin or the PC2 8000 G.Skiel.

I probably will just be overclocking the processor, so I just need RAM I can tighten the timings if I clock it down a bit.
