Please help me choose between HDDs.

I am buying a completely new PC who's primary purpose will be gaming.
Components that i have so far picked for it are:

Intel 'CPU LGA1150 Intel® Core™ i7-4790K
GeForce GTX970
DIMM DDR3 2x8GB 2400MHz Kingston HyperX Savage CL11
MB: Z97 Intel chipset, LGA1150 socket, ATX (not sure what model)
900W Raidmax Vampire RX-900GH 80PLUS GOLD

I need some help deciding between the following HDDs (not interested in getting a true SSD at this moment):
Western Digital 1TB 3.5" SATA III 64MB 7200rpm Black
SEAGATE SSHD 1TB + 8GB 3.5", SATA III, 7200rpm, 64MB
Western Digital 1TB SATA III, 64MB, 3.5", 7200rpm, Entrprise RE
SEAGATE 1TB, 3.5", SATA III, 64MB, Barracuda 7200.14

All have 7200rpm 3.5" Sata3 64MB cache, but i have questions about specific things:
- How does the "WD Black" mentioned above compare to the "Seagate Barracuda" mentioned above?
- I have heard that all the WD Black and Seagate Barracuda HDD series are (more-or-less) old and/or discontinued and should be avoided when possible?
- Are the new Seagate SSHD actually good for gaming? I heard that regular 7200rpm HDD are better for gaming than the SSHD ones (also with 7200rpm)?
- Is there a Western Digital counterpart to the Seagate SSHD mentioned above that would be good for gaming?
- WD Enterprise RE is, i guess, for business purposes. However are any of those features perhaps useful for a gaming PC, or is it of no importance?

I would buy whichever 1TB HDD is on sale. Of those, the most likely price leader is the Seagate .14 Barracuda. While the other drives are good, you are largely paying for better warranty and/or the hybrid component, which I wouldn't waste my money on.

Why are you not interested in an SSD?

It won't matter one bit. They are all slow compared to SSD, so go with whatever is cheapest.

Don't use the Raidmax Vampire PSU, Raidmax isn't a high quality PSU brand, and 900W is ridiculously overkill for a single GPU build. Go with a quality PSU instead, like Seasonic, Antec, Corsair, EVGA (some units), XFX.

You should definitely get a 'true SSD', your build isn't complete without one. A high performance gaming PC must have one. I'd get a 256GB or even a 512GB one. Combine with standard 1TB or 2TB HDD for storage.

As was stated, get a SSD for the OS (and maybe other stuff, depending on how big it is), and a HD for everything else.

P.S, I also wondered why you have that PSU... seems like an odd choice.

Get a smaller, more reliable PSU than that thing, probably Seasonic. I like Antecs, but most of those are Seasonic or Delta built anyway, the ones I use are Delta.

You probably only need a good 450 in reality for that, but some wiggle room never hurts, 950 with a iffy PSU is, well, iffy. A good Modular 650 or so would be better.

+ at least a decent SSD for the OS, even a 120, but a good 256 about as cheap these days and add a HDD for storage.

I'm just a WD fanboi myself, have 4 X 1TB RE3's on a hardware RAID array here in this one for years with a couple SSD's, a few WD Blacks 500's on a few others, and even a few old WD Raptor 120's in RAID arrays running a couple old rigs OS's that are still kicking along.

Maybe Seagate has gotten better, but I had too many barracudas and a few others die in the past personally, and just stopped using them.

That was a long time ago, but I just went WD myself from then on and have had very few fail over time.

I have had very few problems with WD drives.
