What would be the best video card for me to get for $100-$150 dollars. I want to have the TwinView (DualDisplay, whatever) capability, and I want a nVidia chipset. I've been thinking about getting a Gainward CardExpert GeForce2 MX TwinView/Vivo Golden Sample for $110 from newegg.com, as it is number 1 on PC World's Graphics Boards list, and number 5 on their Gaming Boards list.

Thanks!

 I, too, am trying to find a video card for for an Athlon XP1600--Abit KG7 based system. I'm especially interested in video editing...I'd like to edit camcorder video,etc...I've had ATI cards in the past, including the All in Wonder...I've been looking at the Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO...it's more expensive than the NVidia based Gainward card that was just mentioned. Should I switch to an NVidia baed card and if so, which has the best video editing capabilities. I'd appreciate any input...Thanks!

I've been looking for a dualhead capability video card for my system. I'm running an XP 1800+ Gigabyte GA-7DX based system with 1Gb 2100 DDR RAM, used mainly for research, multiple documents open, multiple browsers open, Adobe Acrobat open, etc., so I am looking for a card that can run two monitors. Also use it for editing video images. Have been researching the Radeon 8500, and see it has mostly good reviews, with some negative comments on the drivers. Anyone have any thoughts.

My bad! I didn't take the

<< (DualDisplay, whatever) capability >>

part as meaning strictly twin view. If I may make a suggestion? perhaps it will assist you in evaluating your options. Although the card I suggested doesn't support 2 monitors, it does support a monitor and T.V. other features: Capture video images from TV, VCR, V8 or camcorder with Composite & S-Video connector Video capture rate up to 30f/s
Capture file format support MPEG-1 & 2
If you already have 2 monitors and were intent on using both as opposed to selling one and using say, a 19" T.V. then perhaps the MX is a better value for your situation. Excluding dual monitor support the card I mentioned is a far superior card and utilizes 4 pipelines for 3D rendering. I hope this provides you with some food for thought ;) I'll include the full specs on the card in case there is something you might want to evaluate.Specifications

Single-Chip GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)
Support 4X AGP
Support - 4ns DDR-SDRAM High Speed Memory
Integrated 350MHz RADAC, resolution up to 2048x1536 @ 75Hz

31M Triangles/sec through Set-up &1 Billion fill rate
DirectX Texture Compression
Enhanced Motion Compensation for Full Speed DVD Playback
Video acceleration for DirectShow , MPEG-1 , MPEG-2 ,and Indeo

Features

Gainward GeForce2 Ti/500 XP is the first 3D graphics processor . Thanks for all your help! I don't know if I'll use it, at least right away, but I do want to have TwinView. However, especially since I could just get whatever graphics card I want, then later pick up a nice PCI graphics card (I probably would only use the second display for less demanding things, like web surfing) and let WinXP handle the TwinView (assuming it works the same way Win2k does), then lets just forget about that for the moment.

Assuming I have no preference of brands or chipsets (except that I want a nVidia chipset), what would be the best card I could get for $100-$200 (preferably under $150)?

ATI Radeon OEM for $190 at Newegg. Flash the BIOS to retail and you will be the proud owner of the best damn card out there for a hundred bucks less than the competition.
