The outcome I need is

  • 6 IDE Hard drives
2 IDE DVD (one DVD and one DVD RW)
As many USB Ports as possible
A minumum of two DVI video ouputs (will accept analog output and use connectors - I am not a game player or artist - I just need at least two monitors)
    A minimum of 4GB RAM
    Firewire
    GB NIC
    Sound (whatever)

Currently I have an 845 Intel board with
  • Celeron 2.8 CPU
Two UBS Adaptec Duo connect cards (for additional USB ports)
    2 GB RAM (PC2700)
ATI 9700 video (one analog connector - one digital connetor)
10/100 built on board (GB NIC card installed)
Adaptec ATA133 PCI card (for additional IDE channels)Sound (whatever)
    4 IDE Hard Drives
    Adaptec 2900 SCSI card
    SCSI CDROM
    SCSI CDRW
    SCSI Tape
    SCSI Jazz
    SCSI Zip
About 15 external USB devices (usb DVDRW, web cam, two printers, two scanners, business card scanner, flash card reader, ipod cradle, cell phone cradle, blackberry cradle, Pocket PC cradle, tv tuner, radio tuner, a few extra ports for flash key drives, etc... and more

Everything is working great now - I jsut want some additional speed

I do not want SCSI anymore and do not need the Jazz, Zip or tape drive. The CDRW and CDROM will be swtiched to IDE DVD and DVDRW

I am looking to speed up my systems but cost is an issue What would anyone recommend?

Please do not tell me to move to SATA or SCSI hard drives. I have approx 25 Hard drives in removable caddys that I need to switch in and out of the computer (they are not hot swap)

Thank you for your help

I'd look at the Intel 805 dual core cpu, if you're willing to change to ddr2. For your celeron, Computer Geeks has an Intel SE7210TP1 server board for $115 plus shipping for socket 478. I just go rid of my 2.8c hyperthreading cpu. The 2.4c is still available for around $104 (pricewatch), which would provide you with a decent boost in performance.
