Please help me choose a gaming computer

Firstly, let me say that I have neither the ability or desire to build a computer myself, which means I'll be overcharged for a prebuilt but, oh well. What I was wondering is this: I found a seemingly brilliant deal at http://www.cyberpowerinc.com on a computer they call the "Gamer Xtreme DVD" which boasts the following specs:

1.2Ghz Athlon
Azza Via KT133 Motherboard
AMD Certified ATX Medium Tower Case
300 Watt Power Supply
256MB PC133 SDRAM
60GB 7200 UDMA 100 HD
Visiontek GeForce2 Ultra
16x DVD
19" Viewsonic E70 Monitor
SB Live! X-Gamer Sound Card
Creative Labs Desktop Theater 5.1 DTT2200 Speakers
Mouse, Keyboard, Floppy Drive, Modem, of course.

This costs $1744.00 and includes EVERYthing I want and more as I could have settled for a smaller HD. As such, it seems to fit the "too good to be true" category. A similarly configured system from Alienware (to which I had previously been referred) would cost about $2311.73 with a cheap, $185 monitor.
I'd like to know if this company is trustworthy? (I've seen their ads in Computer Shopper forever, for whatever that means.) Is there anything I should be worried about in the setup listed above? Any and all help is appreciated!

I have no personal experience with this company, but I would figure if their ads have been around 'forever', then they must be doing pretty good for themselves.

When it comes down to it, having a kick ass system and no support for it makes a sad camper. I donno about this co.

Resellerratings.com only gives that company a 3.8 out of 7. Some very unhappy campers who bought their systems from them. Price almost looks like they use refurbished components. Personally I would stay away them. Just my opinion. 🙂

Rather then order online, find some local computer shops, talk to them about custom building a system for you, and go with the one that has the best components to choose from and/or the best price.

That's what I did and got an:

ASUS A7V Mboard
1.GHZ Athlon T-Bird
512 MB PC-133 SDRAM
Plextor 12x10x32 CD-RW
Pioneer 16x40 DVD
45 GB IBM Deskstar
ASUS V7700 Geforce2 GTS
SB-Live X-gamer
FSP1800 Speakers
17" NEC Flat screen Monitor

After I brought it home and set up internet access, I went to Alienware to see what I would have paid if I'd bought it from them. I saved about $600 buying it my way. And if I ever have any problems, the place I bought my rig from is about a mile away, I know the guy that built it by name, and I can just bring the box down and talk to the guy while he fixes it.

Hope this helps,

Dan.
