Hello, my name is Youna Shin.
I am senior at Yonsei University, located in South Korea.
I am currently writing graduate thesis about Amazon Echo.
Since there's almost no information about its customers online, I decided to take an online survey to its customers at Tech Support Guy.
If you have some free time, could you please do this survey?
It will take less than 5 minutes to finish.

After the raffle, I will be sending Starbucks gift cards to some of the people who helped us.

Here's a link: Is this a thesis to graduate from middle school? Because a real grad thesis would not do research this way.

A graduate thesis on a consumer product? One that sucks hard, no less? This must be a joke.

The Echo is actually an amazing product, have you ever used it? My buddy has one. The microphone pickup is the best I've ever seen - it can hear you clearly from across the room. Works way better than Siri. The speaker is also phenomenal for the size.

I've heard good things about it but I have no idea what I would actually use it for. Seems like a novelty for sure.

My friend uses theirs in the kitchen, mostly as a timer & for measurements. Also for music. You can also use it to control your home if you have smarthome stuff (lights, blinds, temperature, etc.).

You obviously have not used one - it is actually an amazing product, especially if you have any home automation gear.

This individual sent me a message on Facebook too, since I'm a member of the Echo Facebook group. Might be legit, but didn't check further.

WTF is an Amazon Echo?

If you have home automation devices, Echo is great. I use it to control lights throughout the house. I also can use it to control my entertainment center.

You know, I think this guy is legit, or at least not a boy. He used an emote option in the thread title, and tagged the thread. Never seen a bot do that.

Let's be a bit nicer to him, hm?

Agreed,though not sure it isn't a scam. the 2nd comment wasn't necessary.

I actually started a thread when I saw them come out and do not have one myself but they did look interesting to have in a kitchen perhaps. It didn't get much of a response about them at the time.

Not something I'd probably spend the money on, but looked interesting.

I have 2 of them, but I didn't pay more than $99 for either of them. I personally think $179 is too much and probably wouldn't may more than $120-$130 for one.

With that being said, they are very useful devices and Amazon is doing a great job releasing new features and integrations on a very regular basis. If you aren't into home automation, they are probably a harder sell, but if you have a compatible HA ecosystem, I think the Echo is a must.

o wtf, pass

The wife loves her new little Fire.

Not the fanciest things in the world, but her mother bought her and my sister-in-law the $50 7" ones for Christmas, I was pretty impressed the short period I messed with it myself for $50 bucks.

Amazon is putting out some interesting things these days.

I got a couple of the $50 ones for $35 on Black Friday...and it's a pretty easy fix to remove the ads (which really didn't bother me anyway but my son did it for me). It's an outstanding value even for $50.

I also like my Echo. Like others said, it's not worth the list price but for $99 it's a good value. I have mine in the kitchen and use it for timers, easy measurement conversion, and listening to music while I cook. I haven't even gotten into the home automation uses yet because the compatible pieces seem a bit pricey and I haven't found a worthwhile use case yet.

Amazon is allegedly working on a smaller, portable Echo that is battery operated. The rumor is that you will have to physically press a button to use the device in order to preserve battery life. Personally, I hope they allow it to be "always on" if it is plugged into AC power because having to press a button takes away much of the utility of the device.
