Please help. My monitor doesn't adjust any higher contrast/brightness, which is ok since 99% of the time I see fine by adjusting the software.

I recently upgraded my old computer from a 6800 GT/XP OS system to a new 8800 GTS 640MB Vista OS system. I use nVidia's latest drivers to adjust the brightness/contrast/gamma for my games and desktop, but it does not work for Counterstrike Source! The game is too dark, even if I turn the internal Counterstrike gamma bar all the way up.

Now if I go to windows mode, CS recognizes my nVidia control panel settings just fine. In full screen mode it ignores it and stays dark. The same is true for Half Life 2: Ep. I (another game by Valve's company). Is there a way to make sure that my settings are recognized? Playing these games on my XP system, I didn't have this problem.

Well, I guess there is no help to be found, lol. That's ok, I came up with a work-around for anyone who has this problem until a real fix is found.

Go into your nVidia contol panel and save your current color profile settings. Now max out Brightness and Gamma. Save that profile for Counter Strike: Source/Half-Life 2. Your desktop looks awful, but you can switch back to your main color profile when you finish playing.

Start Steam and load CS:S or HL2. Go to the game's option screen and go from full screen to windowed mode. You should be able to grip the top of the window and move it up to hide most of the border, making it almost look like full screen mode. Now go back to the options and adjust the Gamma to whatever looks bes to you and enjoy the game.

I still have 100+ fps in 1600x1200, so I'm now a happy camper. Again, when the game is over, simply load your normal nVida color profile for the desktop.
