I just bought a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP along with a AMD Athlon XP 2200(1.8 MHZ, Throughbred) cpu. I disabled the on board LAN, and sound. The memory I am using is PNY 256 PC 2100 DDR. I went to AMD's website to make check what the clock speed of my cpu. It keeps saying that I have a AMD Athlon XP 1500 + with a speed of 1369 MHZ rather than the expected 1.8 MHZ that it shoud be.

At first I thought I recieved the wrong chip but I checked Anand's latest take on the Throughbred and in the article he mentions how to make sure that you have a authentic Throughbred chip. Sure enough I opened up my computer and it checked out, I do have a authentic Throughbred(you can tell from the serial numbers). Maybe I thought it was the clock frequecy but that didnt help either and during my boot up it would still say AMD Athlon XP with out the speed etc.

I read through the manual of my motherboard and used the bios utility provided to flash/update my bios. After the update, at the boot up screen it reads AMD Athlon XP 1500 + . Again I ran the AMD CPU info program and it still lists my speed to be 1369.

Can anyone please help me in figuring out what the problem is. I just want to make sure that I it indeed does say that my cpu is a AMD Athlon XP 2200 and the clock speed is 18. MHZ. Thanks for your help in advance.

Yep. RTFM. ;) J/K... There's a dip on the board labeled "SW1". Flip it.

That's an amazing overclock. 1.8 MHz to 1369 MHz!!!

So did you get you're expected 1.8 GHz whe you changed the FSB to 133?
