I have just finished building my pc, the first time I booted it I put in my windows xp disk formatted then when installation was copying files it said it couldent read some file on the cd disk so I restarted my computer put in the windows disk again and tried to start over, but it wont automatically load like it did the first time wtf is going on?
I go to bios and my cd and hd are both detected

here are the spec
asus nforce
xp 1900+
lite on cdrw
WD SE Hard drive
300w antec true power

Sounds like you have a bad cd? is it a copy or legit?

TO fix the error you are having you need to boot up on a bootdisk and use fdisk to delete the partitions and start over from a clean hd and a new cd perhaps.

ok I created a boot disk at the command I type in fdisk and it says bad command, what should I do?

You shouldnt need to have a separate bootdisk. the winxp CD has fdisk on it, just boot off the CD, and install a clean copy in the existing partition...

it wont boot of the cd I dont know why the cd drive is detected in the bios I put in a win xp disk resart but it wouldent automatically boot up I dont know wtf is going on

There is a place in the bios for boot devices(which device to boot from first). You need to specify first cdrom, second floppy, third hard disk. The save and boot from cdrom

i think I have fixed it I disabled the floppy and hd so they wouldent be checked wehn booting up and only left the cd ddrive on now i am installing windows thanks
