Please Help! Individual Speakers on a speaker selector

I currently have a pair of speakers that are connected to a speaker selector and then to an impedence volume control. I want to be able to control them individually. Would I be able to hook up the left speaker to one channel and the right speaker to another channel on the speaker selector?
