I hve my westenr digital 60 gig hard drive hooked up, it detects it..

I put in the win2k cd and it loads win2k instalation, copys the necessary files to the C: drive, and then it restarts the computer to begin instalation, and then it just skips pass the hard drive and doesen't load off it, and goes back to the BOOT CD (win2k) and beginsthe process over again,
is there anything i have to change on the motherboard's default factory settings, any jumpers ?
please hlep!

Take out the CD. :)

But, so if you ever have a bootable CD in there again, enter the BIOS. I dunno if you know how to do this, so when the system is just starting up hit DEL (delete...) a bunch of times so it enters the BIOS. Then when you get there, go into "Advanced BIOS Features." When in there, the 6th thing down is where you can change the "First Boot Device." I'm assuming that this is set to "CDROM", go ahead and change it to "HDD-0" and then you should be all set.

Post again if there is any problem.

I changed it to that, and it says

BOOT CD
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

i have a sound blaster live in also if that makes a difference

Odd...did you take the CD out though?

It seems like it's still trying to boot from the CDROM drive.

Did you make sure you saved the BIOS after changing the boot order? (F10 then Y then enter when exiting the BIOS to save)

Make sure the ribbon cables to the hard drive are seated correctly and try different ones if some are available. It should always be detecting the hard drive. Also, go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to be IDE 0 and the second boot device to be CD-ROM.

When it restarts it says
Cannot open boot partition to check for a signature

then loads the CDROM boot device

so therefore its not booting of the C: drive, i dont know why
i updated the bios to the latest one..
argggg....

I got my old Maxtor drive, that has win2k already loaded on it, and i plugged her into the master cable, and it loaded win2k right away,

i dont know why it wont setup on my Western digital hard drive? .... i have 3 partitions on it, i deleted the partiton, formatted it , and then loaded win2k on it , then it starts to copy files, then reboots and then gets that error.
