Please help! How do you retrieve a Halflife Cdkey from a previous installation?

Ive lost my HL Cd, and Plan to change Oses soon, so Ill need My Cd key. Im on win Me right now, and Ive been told there is someway to find the previous Cdkey from the installation. I can use my bud's Cd to install, but I need my old cdkey.

Ive tried searching, Won and Sierra,
is there a more specific term I could use? or better yet the location of the actual value?
