Hey all,

Got problems with a new HD upgrade.

what I had:

MSI K8N Neo2 Plat Mobo and i had 2 ibm ide HD's set up in raid.

What I got:MSI K8N Neo2 Plat Mobo and Hitachi sata II hd

What I did:

I tried to hook up the new HD and make a couple partitions to save some files to...but it didnt work, so i unhooked the raid drives and hooked up the new drive, and now i cant install windows.

I can load the winxp cd, and i can boot with a boot disk, but when it gets to formating and making partitions it freezes. DL'd the hitachi analize and restore app, but it freezes when i run the test, and when i try an erase the HD..it starts to work than gives an error that it cant find the hd (the hd is recognized when the program first runns though)

Anyone know what im doing wrong?

How about using the Hitachi utility to switch it to SATA I mode rather than SATA II? Will it do it?

Does hard drive have separate SATA drivers that need to be installed during Windows installation process by hitting F6 during the start of installation ??
