Just bought the E6850 cpu today and popped it in... during my excitement, i forgot to plug in the plug for the heatsink fan....................i know... i'm an idiot...

3-4 hours later..... i decided to check temps and it read 89 deg celsius for both cores.... im like crap...........

after i plugged the fan in... temps are bck down to 36-39 range...

did i damage my cpu?

hope not.. =(

=*(

any opinions besides that i'm an idiot?

by the way the autoshutdown feature in BIOS was disabled. ... =(

thanks!

I did that to my e6600 first day i got it, and it reached 90C then auto shut off. Damn stock intel hs/f pins suck...

anyway, 11 months later and running at 3.2 ghz that entire time, it has been fine. (with a tuniq of course)

I'm sure your fine.

Youre fine.

If youre really worried, run a cpu intensive application like prime95 at stock speed and stock voltage.

No errors means youre good to go.
