Please help! Email DBX files not reading

I had some ram go bad on me, causing my computer to hard lock. This happened while Outlook Express was compacting email files. Upon rebooting, I found that Outlook now showed me as having 0 messages in both my inbox and sent items box! I backed up my DBX files, then reinstalled windows, hoping it was an outlook express problem. Sadly, it still will not read the files. I have them in the proper folder, and they show up as their normal 122MB file size, but Outlook refuses to show any messages whatsoever. Does anyone know how I can get these readable again?

Well, when you said you reinstalled Windows, what version of Windows are you referring to? If it's XP, your email is not going to automatically come back, because XP considers the new install a different account/profile.

Have you tried importing the email? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;270670

Have you tried installing the freeware Thunderbird email program and importing email from your folder that has the dbx files?

Also, be more specific in your responses. "No Luck" tells me/us nothing other than you haven't fixed the problem yet. If you were more descriptive, it would be easier to see if there were some additional option to try with the same possible fixes.
