Please help Dual Boot ME / 2K

I have ME installed on my second hard drive and reformatted my first to 2K. Now it installs directly into 2K but I would like to be able to choose - is there any way of doing this?

you need to reverse what you did. install me on the FIRST drive first, then install win2k on the SECOND drive/partition. this will setup the boot loader for you to choose.

I say get rid of that horrible OS of ME. That thing is the worst thing created by MS. But if you must you can do what Cancer boy said, or you can create a DOS menu that you would set in your config.sys But recommendation of this penguin toss the ME

I don't plan on keeping ME on there for very long, just long enough to make sure that 2K works correctly etc. I would like to keep it like a back-up for a while though, makes me feel better in case something crashes.

C: 2K (30 GB Drive)
D: ME (5 GB of the 60 GB Drive)
E: Paritioned and formatted but empty right now

SUOrangeman - please, if there is some program I can use, let me know, I don't want to reinstall anything, the point was to just be able to go into ME if I absolutely need to.

ok send me a PM telling what type of drives you have SCSI or IDE and ehow many partitons on each drive and on what controller they are on.

Primary ide Master drive is C: one partiton
etc i will make you a boot.ini file for you to use along with the appropriate system files to boot the system

Hi Trudi,

I am dual booting WinMe (1st drive) and Win 2000 Pro (second drive) no problems. Don't listen to the WinMe bashing, the operating system is very stable (at least for me). I use both and like both just fine. I like to run flight simulators and find the Me platform a bit more fluid and more compatible. Win2000 Pro is cool though and quick too. Enjoy both systems!

I am currently booting 98 and 2000. Although I installed 98 first I have read in the forums several times people wanting to install 2000 first.

The replies have been to install 2000 then 9x then boot the 2000 CD and choose the repair option and it will detect and setup the bootloader.

If you would like more info preform a search. And be prepared for long list.😉
