Please Help - Dead or Dying Computer

Hey.. Need some help trouble shooting:

Last night my computer just went dead.. Its been pretty hot in my neck of the woods, so I know the computer has been running hotter then normal.

When i restarted, i got signal to my monitor, and also i believe the mobo posted, but after iniatilizing(i think this is the right word) the 4 ide channels, it gives me the option to press F1 to continue or DEL to enter setup...

Right there the comp freezes, and wont let me go anywhere. ... My initial thought is that I might have fried my processor... I tend to leave my comp on for long periods of time, but never until now have had any problem...

Does this seem like hardware problem or could it be a virus..

It shouldnt be the CPU, could be due to overheating, check that your fan is moving. Might also be that your harddrive(s) overheated.

Try to boot from a CD or floppy. I agree that it's unlikely to be your cpu. Do you hard drive(s) spin up?

The CD drives do.. havent check the HDs... when it intializes.. it lists both HDs on teh correct ide channels.. does that necessarily mean that they are spinning up?
