PLEASE HELP!!! CPU Power up Problem

For quite some time we have been having problems with the CPU powering up. In the beginning if we powered down and tried to power up within 30mins. The CPU power lights
and sounds would come on but no start up screen. If we waited 60 mins or longer before powering back up it started no problem. Now it has progressed to the same
problem everytime we boot no matter how long the computer has been shut down, except now
the only way we can get the CPU to completely boot up is to turn on both the power strip and the CPU at the same exact time. For some reason this combination seems
to give it the boost it needs to boot all the way. We have tried 3 different power strips as well as plugging the CPU directly into the wall socket, without success. I have checked all my connections inside the CPU as well as outside. The only other thing I found odd was when I plugged the CPU into
both new power strips the little red light on the power strips went out, like it shorted out and won't light back up again.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions

List your computer specs in detail. I had a power-up problem a couple weeks back, and it was caused by a NIC incompatibility, of all things.

Kiehn - I've think that I have had the problem that you are describing before. I'm not too sure if its the equivalent... but here is what you might want to try to do....

Take out the Lithium battery from the motherboard... and let it chill for a while... clean it up if you want, I always clean it up w/ my shirt (i dunno why ) but anyways, leave it out for a minute or 2 and then place it back in... and boot up your computer, shouldn't be a problem...

If that doesn't work

Then it might be your video card that is busted... make sure that the video card is plugged into the slot well and that it isn't loose...

Might want to try another videocard in place just to check and see if that setting would boot up.

I would first take the case/monitor over to friends house and with a new surge suppressor try it over there.
It sounds like you may have an electrical problem where you live, either low voltage, lack of grounding or something that needs to be checked into.

If it works great at the friends house, reaseat all cards and connectors, then get Hydro or an electrician to check your house, if it still happens at the friends house then look at replacing the surge suppressor first, try another outlet/breaker, and possibly replacing the Power Supply.

Cry - Doesn't sound like a connection problem to me... but she might want to give it a try nonetheless. The computer boots up, which means that it has enough electrical power for that aspect... and that is usually when the most power is required right?

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try nonetheless
