PLease Help - corrupted WMV playback with WMP9

Changed my GFX card from 9500pro tp x800 and just noticed when trying to playback a streaming .wmv file that it wouoldn't play properly so i checked files already on my pc:

.avi/mpeg play fine but all the .wmv files appear corrupt.
How can I identify the cause/fix it?

player is WMP9

I have noticed that .avi and .mpg files all play fine; only .wmv - whether clips already on my pc or streaming. also tried to play them with RealPlayer and get sm problem....
