please help, corrupted file downloads!

I'm trying to download the latest Halflife patch and I keep getting a message telling me that the patch file has been corrupted when I try and install it! I'm trying to download the full upgrade to Halflife. I'm using an RR cable modem. I've had this problem before with smaller files, but this is really getting on my nerves. Now I have to download the whole damn thing all over again. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
