I really can't stay on long, my CPU is FRYING. The plastic grooves that secure the clip for the heatsink/fan snapped off last night and right now I have the hs/fan rigged but it's very unsecure, hence the extreme temperatures... I can't find ANY warantee info in the manual nor on the site. They don't even include a tech support line in the manual or any number I can contact! What's up with this!? How the heck am I supposed to have this thing replaced? Please Help!

I suggest you get really inventive... :)

hope that helps

130F isn't "frying" .. a tad hot, yes.. but well within specs :)

It sure is much hotter than my old 80 F temps and right now a rubber band is flimsily holding a coldplate to the CPU.... nothing I would want to have as a permanent setup. And no way am I putting Epoxy on my CPU b/c that stuff is permanent... once it goes on it's not coming off which means no upgrading if I want to use my Renegade for future CPUS. With enough pressure or usage of a thin blade you would be able to get it off but that could very possibly cause damage to the CPU core. Even if you do get it off safely the epoxy would have left a film on the heatsink (in my case cold plate) and CPU core that you will not be able to get off.

oh and ASUS SUCKS!!! They don't give 2 sh*ts about their customers!

Yes I know; this is what they have as their contact info:
ASUS COMPUTER INTERNATIONAL (America)

Technical Support
Fax: +1-510-608-4555
E-mail: tsd@asus.com
WWW: http://www.asus.com
FTP: ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS

How can you consider this customer support?? I tried every form of contact available from their fax number to marketing department and e-mail, and have come up with nothing. It's only been a half day since I e-mailed them, but I e-mailed them 2 months ago concerning my board and I never got a response even then.

Apparently I'm on the only one:

"is there any way for me to rma it to asus? its very hard. i tried calling the number, it just keeps ringing. i tried e-mail, they dont respond. is there anything else i can do? "

I'm very suprised that the retail location... even it being on the web, won't do an RMA for you... its less than a year old right.. well that was a dumb questions but really I would talk to the place you bought it from, if they say that you must go through ASUS, tell them.. "NO, I bought it from you and you are the responsible party because YOU sold it to me, it is a faulty product and I want a new one... not something better, the exact same one I have... I'm not trying to screw you I just want my money's worth" they will probably just hang up on you as I have found with many online dealers, they grab your cash and run as fast as they damn well can and then you want help and they just blow you off.... sounds like a lot of retail... but still I would try the place you bought it from, and totally be nice but to the point, its amazing what you can get when you are nice but to the point... I had a Maxtor 8.4GB and it was dead, this was the 3rd drive from them that had died (all different systems) and I told the lady I wasn't to happy with their product and she was totally cool to me, because I was to her... she sent me a 7200RPM 13.6GB... now thats customer service... then my other 2 MAxtors died... I don't buy them anymore! Long winded I know but hey good luck!

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. I tried themal epoxy but it did not hold. I called the number listed in the above post and got an RMA. I sent the board to them 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing. I have been sending emails to ask about the RMA but have heard zip. They dont care about customers that is for sure. I should not have to call CA from NY to ask about it either. That is nice and expensive.

Anyway, I digress. Call the number- they will give you an rma and you send it to Newark CA.

Wow!

I must have really kissed ass at ASUS becuase they were more than helpful with an RMA on my CUSL2. They were, without a doubt, the best company I have had to work an RMA with.

Some of you may have seen some previous posts I made about how I tried to install and ArctiCooler and I ended up taking out 3 traces right underneath the notch on the socket since I couldn't get it to work properly. I called ASUS on September 18, a real nice girl named Kristy gave me an RMA number and I sent the motherboard in. My new one just arrived today (via UPS next-day-air). They did a straight replace, no questions asked, even though I blatenly screwed up the board on my own. Two weeks for a complete RMA is awesome, in my opinion.

The number, as Midnight Rambler stated, is 510-739-3777; press 5 for the RMA department. Having to call CA from NY or anywhere else isn't that big of a deal since there's tons of long distance companies with those nickel-a-minute plans. True, the wait on hold can be long, but that's why I call from the office and not home.

Also, you should not use email to contact a company when you have important business (such as an RMA), as email is an informal means of communication and will rarely receive an immediate response from any bureaucratic system, and even if you do, it's probably not from the person whom you should be in contact with.
