Hi,

Right now, I'm at grandma's house, and I'm trying to set up a computer with windows 2k for her. The problem is that I disabled too many services and now I can't start them up again.

When I go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services I have only about 3 services started, and I disabled most of the other services. Now, the computer doesn't work very well.

Please tell me how can I start these services again ? :( :(

I have tried:
1. Right clicking in the serice and going to properties. (The properties window won't appear)
2. Don't have the Windows 2000 CD with me, so I can't do a system repair :(
3. I have botted into safe mode, but when do a right click on a service the properties window still won't appear.

Please help me,
pitupepito

Hmm, he disappeared  pitupepito2000, this isn't my area of expertise, but try this:

1) log on as an Administrator-class user

2) open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd)

3) in the command-prompt window, type net start workstation, see if that gets it to where you can start other services

4) if not, you can try starting the other services shown in this image. I inverted the black-&-white on the services that are specific to my system (the first two are for Grisoft AVG Free Edition antivirus and the last is for ZoneAlarm). For those names that contain spaces, you will need to enclose the name of the service in quotation marks, like this: net start "automatic updates".

Good luck, hope that helps you out :)

mechBgon thanks for replying. What I ended up doing, was using regedit to change the "start" value of the services, and that fixed it.

mechBgon, thanks for replying again :) ;)
