I had problems with my pc, it was running just fine for a couple of months when suddenly one day it wouldnt boot instead it would give me this "bootmgr is missing" or sometimes it would tell me is corrupt.

After I couldnt find a way to fix it I already had planned to install Windows 8 on the machine (but because it was my first built I was so eager that in the meantime had it running on Win7) so I took the SSD to copy my files onto my laptop and decided to format the SSD.

To my surprise when I booted on my Win8 System builder DVD it would give me this error 0x000001 and it just wouldnt let me do an install or access any other option.

Please I really dont know what to do, I was wondering if I can install Windows 8 if I hooked the SSD to my laptop then plug it back to my desktop?

TL:TR--- I formatted the main HDD(Win7) because the OS was broken and now I want to install Win8 but it wont let me.

PC:

AsRock Z77 Extreme4
i5 3570k
16GB Corsair Vengeance
1 SSD 840 256GB (MAIN)
1 2TB WD
SeaSonic 650W Gold Cert

When is it giving you the 0x000001 error? to be honest thats the first time ive seen that one
Booting from DVD?
Booting from USB?
After it loads the setup?
after it starts to install?

but yes, you could put the ssd into your laptop, do the first part of the install and when it reboots remove the drive and put it back in your desktop

it happens when I boot from DVD after the Win8 logo appears it gives that blue screen saying that error occurred and it wont let me select other options (they appear but it wont let me )

should i put it as the second harddrive in my laptop or do i have to take the main one?

Installing Windows on one machine and then putting it on a completely different machine is a bad idea. Windows usually goes berzerk when trying to boot onto a different machine than it was installed with (different drivers all around).

Are we sure this SSD is operating correctly? Is it showing up correctly in the BIOS?

Let me see if I have this - you boot the computer from a Windows 8 DVD, the computer starts to load off the DVD, then you get an error.

Is the error on a type of blue screen, dos screen, or on the Windows 8 loading screen?

Is your RAM being detected correctly in the BIOS?

Also what SATA connectors are you using? I would recommend the ones on the Intel controller if you aren't using those already.

Have you tried an install on the WD hard drive? Might help narrow down the problem.

yes everything is working fine, when i attached via usb the ssd to my laptop i downloaded samsung magician and the status of the ssd was healthy

i really didnt want to try with the WD because i had to many files there but i guess there is no other choice

will post after i try with the WD

I haven't installed 8 many times, but it looks like 8 is doing a repair instead of a fresh install. I wonder if formatting the drive before loading 8 would help.

Also, are you running UEFI in the BIOS?

sorry for the late reply was trying anything to make it work (put them on ACHI, IDE, RAID,legacy rom)

and yes im running UEFI, do you think it could be the cables? i plan to switch them all so i will update by that time when i do. in the meantime i want to say thanks for the help
