PLEASE HELP- cannot read port name...

Hi...I have been running a v.90 modem, and i decided to upgrade to a v.92. I bought a Best Data PCI V.92 internal modem. I installed it inside, but the first thing that i noticed what that when i restarted the computer, it didn't detect the new hardware (my old modem and its drivers were already removed). I went to "Add Modem" in control panel, and istalled my modem. But when i go to "System<Device Manager<Modems<v.92 modem, the computer gives me the following error: cannot Read port Name from registry. I have been doing everything that i know of to fix this, but for some reason, it won't be fixed. I am sure that i am forgetting something really stupid, but maybe one of you can help. ANY tips are greatly appreciated. thank you.
