I have a Socket A motherboard and I have a case(i bought it in a kit several years ago, so no instructions for the case). I know how to put most of this together. I just have a few questions. I have the upgrading and repairing your pc book.

The motherboard is: AXPER XP Series XP-K7V4000

1. I have a few wires sticking out of where my power button is located(I also have an on/off switch in the back). I never took my old power supply out of the case. There are three sets of wires. I can't figure out where to connect them.

The following is a description of each. All are female connectors.

a. The first has 5 female connectors wrapped in a cord. They are not one piece of plastic. They say ground, +D, -D,+5V, Shield

b. Second has 4 female connectors. Says Ground, +5V, -D, +D

c. Third has two female holes in one piece of plastic called 'Power SW'

I have the book for the motherboard.

2. Here are some things in the book I don't understand:

a. F_AUDIO: I have a sound card and it does not have any additional connectors. What is this for?

b. f_usb: is that for one of the wires described above?

c. Front Panel Connector: Book says: connects to certain connectors on the front panel of the system casing such as IDE Hard disk, Active LED. Speaker, reset, power, on/off.
I connect my speaker to a port in the back? I don't have connections for my hard disk for this. I don't undertsand.

a. f_audio most likely is the front panel's audio port. Depending how old your mobo/soundcard is or how old your case is, you have the option of connecting the wires from your case onto the your soundcard/mobo to enable the audio jacks in the front to work.

b. F_usb is for the front panel's USB connection. The +D/-D/+5/shield's are pins related to the usb connectors. You will have to find out from your mobo's pin descriptions to decypher what goes where.

To get your computer working, all you need is the power switch (Power SW) and the reset button switch. All else is LED's or front panel enhancements.
