I have Asus k7v and Rage Fury Maxx and for some reason i get windows protection errors and i can only have it in 640x400 resolution 16 colors. I'm sure it's the drivers but when i uninstall and reinstall i still have the same problems. I recently installed an updated driver but it worked fine for quite a few restarts. If anybody could help i would greatly appreciate it. I also use Windows Millenium

try updating the mobo bios, install the gart drivers. and also write to tech support see if they say you should turn of video bios shadowing and video ram cachable

I use Windows Millenium OEM Which is the biggest piece of SH1T around. Which reinstall would that be, Gart Drivers or Display driver or the AGP drivers for mobo which are already up to date. As far as i know and all the places i've checked i'm pretty sure that i have all of the most recent driver files for all of those things. Thanks

it's win me, ppl are having problems with win me and graphics cards.

i'd go to 98se, or wait for updates. try to do a windows update, though i doubt it'll work. btw make sure you have the win me drivers from ati, i don't know if they are transparent across the platforms, well for the fury maxx.

hope that helps.

btw, do you have the latest version of directx?

i've seen my friend's brand new comp with the same problem with ati rage fury maxx and via m/b. this was with the win98se os though.

i somehow figured it might be the agp gart driver that was the culprit. right after installing the ati drivers, which installs its own agp gart drivers, i installed via's agp drivers before rebooting or anything at all. i know you might have installed via's drivers before the ati install, but ati overwrites that with its own version, so do install via's version right after in normal mode (not turbo) and it should run from there on.

also, it seems this combo of drivers is not exactly perfect on my friend's qdi k7t motherboard/ati maxx config. the ati video diagnostics tests don't complete and there are glitches in games. better get via/ati to work on this problem quick, because durons and ati's better be able to work well together under games. they were almost designed specifically for that.
