hello all
I am wondering what to do, I am looking to get a new video card and like everyone else I want the most for my money. after looking over some reviews and some postings that people have left. I am seriously looking at the ATI all in wonder radeon 64 mb drr. does anyone know if it has all the options that the 32 mb srr card has. when I checked there web site I basically got the impression that the 32 mb card had a lot of video options including tv through the computer and some editing options. I know the 64 mb card is faster but does it come with the same type of options just with more drr ? it is a bit more expensive as well, I have found the 64 mb card for around230 $ on pricewatch.com if anyone could give me a couple of pointers I would really appreciate it. also I am looking to upgrade to sound blaster live platinum 5.1 and was wondering with that sound card and video card what would be a couple of good dvd drives to look at buying ? also with the ati card, you don't need a decoder card that is taken care of on the video card ? thanks again

I have a P3 500 mhz (Dell XPS T500) with 256 mb ram (100 mhz), soundblaster live 1024 and an ATI Radeon 64mb VIVO retail
The ram of the 64mb vivo retail version runs at 183 mhz, all the other versions (bulk and retail) run at 166 mhz.
The 64mb vivo retail has video input, composite video output, S-video output
The Retail 64mb vivo (European version) comes with composite and s-video cables, scartconnector, software Ulead Videostudio 4.01 and Ulead Cool 3d SE 2.5, a cd with dvdtrialers and the ATI installation cd (also includes the impressive Radeon Ark Demo).

DVD quality is amazig, it is better than my TNT2 and mpegdecodercard (cinemaster 3.0), the image is much sharper, you don't need an extra mpegdecodercard.

I get a 3d mark score of 3801 (1024*768 16bit) and 3714 (1024*768 32bit). I can play all my games at 1024*768 32 bit with everything on maximum.
Also in 2d the colors are much more vibrant and the image sharper than with my tnt2.
I am running the 4.12.3063 driver version.
I believe that the card is a very good solution for 2d and 3d.

There area lot of posts on this topic...read before you post.

But to answer your question, there is no Radeon 64MB DDR All-In-Wonder, it's VIVO (Video In Video Out). The Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO does not have a TV tuner, the 32MB DDR AIW does. You will never need a DVD decoder card if you have a Radeon.

I have a platinum 5.1 and I bought an ASUS 8X/40X PC-DVD player for $80. I chose the ASUS because its one of a few DVD drive that is region unlocked (plays DVD's marketed anywhere in the world), has a digital audio output (outputs digital audio straight to the card), and has dynamic sound and vibration reduction and speed scaling (makes it real quiet).
