Please Help! Asus A7V motherboard with 900 Thunderbird

I just purchased all new parts for a new computer. The motherboard just arrived today and I've been so anxious to put it together. I followed the directions pretty good I believe, however my computer is just not working. I have a 900mhz thunderbird and I believe to have hooked up everything correctly, however, my computer doesn't turn on. The first time I pressed the power button, the computer turned on for about 10 seconds (maybe less), but that is it. When I turn on the power supply switch located in the back of the case the fan turns on for about 2 seconds and the green light on the mainboard lights up. I have no clue what to do. If anyone could help me I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks, Gene.

The last time I had that happen, it was a faulty Enlight power supply. Don't stop there though, remove all the extra cards, except video and unplug any fans you may have connected to the motherboard header, except the one for CPU cooling. Also, recheck your power supply to motherboard plug to be sure it's fully seated. Another thought is, are you absolutely positive you have no stray motherboard standoffs on the motherboard tray that are not in alignment with motherboard mounting holes?
Try it again with the system as bare as you can get it, then start adding components until you find the problem. If it doesnt work after everything I told you, I'd lay odds it a faulty ps.

I tried hooking the motherboard up to another power supply (235w) and nothing happened also. I have the motherboard right now on its anti-static mat and the only things plugged into it are the power-switch supply, the cpu cooler fan, the memory, and the power supply. I have NO IDEA what could be the problem. I'm guessing the jumper settings. The manual is horrible about it......jumper free mode....I want to try it manually but i don't know the voltage settings for my 900 t-bird.

Set it to jumper free mode, mount it. Let the bios set the voltage at defaults first, to at least establish that it can run your ps. I normally test boards out of the case first too, but mounting it will help see if you have a ground issue.

er... you didn't mention it in your list, so I have to ask:

Do you have your video card plugged in too? If not, this would definitely cause your system to not turn on.

I know this will probably sound inane but once you've turned it on and it's powered up for 2 seconds then stopped and the mobo light is on turn it on with the case button.

Seriously I know of lots of ppl who just didn't hit the case button.

Try it.
