I purchased a Radeon 8500LE last week second hand and since Friday when it arrived it has worked great.

However today after playing some Age of Kings (not even a 3D game) all of a sudden tons of what I beleive are Artifacts appeared on the screen.

I rebooted the machine and sadly every time I turn it on there are artifacts evereywhere (looks Horrible).

The guy I bought it off I believe managed to get it to 300/300 and since it arrived I have just ran it out of the box as I have no desires or wishes to overclock it.

Is it possible it's still overclocked as I thought that it would simply be running at 225/225 unless I got something like powerstrip to overclock it. Also has this card had it and am I sadly left trying to negotiate a refund with the seller?

Thanks

they could have flashed it to a higher frequency, which is almost certainly the case, as I've never heard of a LE going up to 300 without being flashed. The voltages in the LE flash are too low to do it. See if you can get the original flash back to an LE, it might help.

The 8500LE runs at 250/250. Ati's retail 8500 runs at 275/275. There are one or two third party R8500's in OEM that run at 225/225, their often referred to as R8500LELE.

Question for you funkychicken, are you overclocking your cpu? By that i mean fsb?

You might want to get power strip(or any other variant) and see what it says your default core/mem is. IF need be underclock it.
