Hi,

I don't know if this is the right section but i have a video playback issue.

Thanks to the advice from this community, i finally upgraded my old core 2 duo to a 2500k/p67a-ud3/ga-6950-2gb system.

The new system really flies and i works as far as i can tell flawlessy, except for video playback!

When i upgraded my system i did not reformat my vertex 2 120gb drive. windows 7 ultimate simply updated the drivers and there were no conflicts.

how is it possbile i find big time screen tearing when playing back videos? when i use xbox MC wireless from a different room, the same video plays completely smooth.

any one have any ideas? please help!

thx!

What program you using for playback ? Try with VLC and see if the problem is still there.

I assume you have VSYNC off ?
Try forcing it on, or make it default on.

You didnt install drivers yourself?, you just let windows do a driver update?....I would uninstall previous and install current drivers from AMD website!, Id also install the Intel chipset drivers as well!

i cant seem to find the option to force vsync on in catalyst.

i actually uninstalled the video drivers first, the shut off the pc and did the upgrade. when i turned everything on i manually reinstalled the catalyst drivers. win7 did the rest.

i dread that i may need to reinstall windows. that would totally suck. :(

Intel chipset drivers?

i missed this part the first time you suggested it!

i believe i had them installed prior to the upgrade.

i could reinstall it again as i dont see them listed in the add/remove program section.

should i?

I only say it as the chipset drivers allow everything to talk to each other across the board..re-installing wont hurt and if it works will save hours of time, other than that, Id most certainly do a fresh install on a new board myself...
In order,
chipset
reboot
uninstall all AMD driver
reboot
ccleaner
install current drivers with CCC
check vsync!

ok, here's what i did:

disabled hardware acceleration
enabled vsync
tried to update chipset drivers but could not find p67 express on intel site.
used chipset id tool. ids as p67 express and says new driver available but link is dead.

problems still persist.

so annoying but really appreaciate all and any advice...

^ look at the motherboards manufacturer site or the CD included with the motherboard for the chipset driver

You should remove ALL the Drivers from Windows as SolMiester has suggested from within Control panel and then use this tool, http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655to help in the process. CCleaner is a good finishing tool.

Easy vsync is OFF by default.

Turn it on in nvpanel and you will not have tearing anymore..

Try reading the thread a little? he doesnt even have a Nvidia card and he's already tried Vsync.

bump -

I am having the exact same problem.

I originally had a hd 4850 that did tearing. then i upgraded to a hd 5850 without tearing ran, perfect!

Then i just purchased a hd 6950 and a horizontal line 3/4 down the bottom appears only on Video/Movie play back.

Its very distracting and i cant stop looking at when watching a movie.

I am using cata 11.4 and the setup is a Benq 24" monitor 1920x1080 with a Duplicate HDTV Samsung 50" 1080p 1920x1080. I turn on the HDTV when i want to watch a movie.

Any news on a fix for this?
