I need help flashing the Bios to a KK266. I found the correct Bios on the website but the directions are as clear as mud. I'm a newbie to this I have flashed a Bios before to a Intel MB and it was swell. Once I download the bios from the site they say to get into "pure DOS mode" so I restarted the computer and I have C:\windows> and I have tried everything to get just a C:\ so I can type the rest of the instructions and I can't find out how to do it.

Also step 3 of the read me fils says to "build a new tempoary subdirectory, then copy the file there

I'm sorry if this is not real clear but I need HELP. I want to put my XP1600 on this board so the T/bird 1200C can go somewhere else.

okay. Well, this is a way you can do it. Make another floppy with the extracted ZIP file with the ROM. Then have your 'startup disk'. Startup, and go into the BIOS. Go into "Iwill Smart Settings". Change the ROM-type to 'flashable". Start the PC with the startup disk, and then you should be at a 'C:\>'. Switch disks, and go into your A drive, and go into the directory or whatever with the AWDFLASH file & ROM. Type 'AWDFLASH /PY /SY KK0927.BIN /CP /CC /R'. (I think that's it. It's the line they give you in the BIOS document b4 downloading the ROM) Don't touch a single key, and let it run. Once it's out of Award Flash Utility, reboot. Then go into your BIOS, and set it to your liking. That's it. :D

Ok. Here's the correct string to use for the AWDFLASH:

A:\> AWDFLASH KK0822A.BIN /PY /SY OLD.BIN /CP /CC /R

I put KK0822A.BIN as a guess to what your ROM file name is. If that not it, just type the correct '.BIN' instead.

It will work on any OS. Just get into the DOS shell via the Win 98 CD, (3. Start Without CD-ROM support) and type:

C:\> format a: /s

Use that disk to start it up. Or use the CD-ROM as your shell loader. Just put it in, and choose "Start Without CD-ROM support". (or "Start WithCD-ROM support". Doesn't matter, you're not going to use the CD-ROM anyways.)
