Hi everybody,

i am planning to buy new graphics card for my pc...2 days back i posted question on buying amd 7750 and i got help from few members saying that it is a good choice but after seeing so many reviews i came to know that 7770 is better than 7750 and ....7770 can handle games which will be released in 2014 but 7750 can't handle it.........is it true?

my pc config is:-

amd athlon ii x3 450
gigabyte m68mt-s2
4 gb ddr 3 ram

i am on limited budget and i can manage to buy hd 7770 with some few extra bucks....the problem is as AMD mentioned 500w psu to run 7770 i dont have enough money to buy new psu .......will 7770 work with my current psu which is 450 watts and will my motherboard support hd 7770?

please suggest me.........thanking you all in advance and soory for my bad english....:)

The HD 7770 will handle games in 2014 on lowmed settings. The 7750 is just a bare bone entry level gaming card good for 720P med settings and thats about it.

The 7770 should be absolutely fine with such a psu, seems psu models like the cx430 being a 430 watt psu from corsair run cards like that all the time in peoples configurations.

I have a gtx650 udayi, hairline faster then the 7750 in BF3 and for optimal fps of 55+ the card can handle 1440x900/1280x1024 low without a problem, dips of 40 are common with medium settings.

Just disable mssa, enable post aa on high, shut off motion blur and make sure hbao is set to ssao and your peachy.

More then likely yes, hard to say without knowing the brand but i have ran my gtx650 in a dell xp400 with a pentium 4 with the the dell oem psu being i think a 300w and had zero issues so your 450w would have to be pretty bad not to be able to run a 7770.

The 7750 will play BF4 and GTA5 on Low/Med settings 1080P without AA/AF at around 30fps with some dips but your CPU will hold you back in those games anyway but they will be playable just don't exspect to much from them and you will be fine.

so is ther any card in nvidia at this price range which will be good for 2014 games?

The nvidia counterparts to the HD 7750/7770 would be the GTX 650 non ti and the GTX 650ti non boost. The nvidia cards will perform the same as the AMD cards.

if i buy 7770.....do i need to upgrade my psu?

If your PSu is of decent quality 450watts will be plenty of jucie to power up an HD 7770 as they are very low power parts.

With your low resolution monitor an HD 7770 will perform pretty darn good even in upcoming games Like you mentioned BF4 and GTA V you should be abile to maintain well over 30fps with Med/High settings and even a small amount of AA so it will look and play pretty good. Your CPU will hold you back when playing online in BF4 but I still think it should be more than playable as long as you are not exspecing 60fps +.

Well, according to this you should be more than fine on that power supply. The wattage number in the calculator may be slightly low since I don't know all the details of your system and wattage calculators aren't always the most accurate tools, but it sure looks like you'll be ok.

It may be a good idea to do a little PSU amperage math before you pull the trigger, though.

Ultra might be enjoyable,to me enjoyable has to be minimums of 50fps with averages of 60 so if this is you, ultra won't be happening.

A comparable resolution to your 768p yielded many drops into the 40s with ultra enabled for me and honestly medium without ssao or low with ssao would be the settings i would run.

My observations and hours of testing had me running low with ssao, post aa on high and motion blur disabled but medium without it ssao and no aa yielded lower fps overall still and anything above that i could not enjoy.

Also if you aim to play BF3 or even BF4 online, your x3 450 paired with that 7750 or gtx650 whichever you choose honestly might hold you back.

Betting even running all ultra with 4x msaa enabled would not fully task that card due to the fact the cpu would bottleneck,i had this happening with the pentium 4 i tested as well as a spare core i3 3220 and moving on over to the i5 cleared up the bottleneck and allowed me to find the proper playable settings.

Offline he will be fine but like you say online there will be some slow downs because of the CPU even at low settings. I think it will still be playable but definatly far from optimal.

Try it out in the games you play. If you are offline then you will most likley be fine but it's all up the the games you like to play. Metro games are very GPU dependant so that game will definatly play fine on an HD 7770 and your CPU and it will look great and play smoothly.

Offline story mode will be fine i am sure, online not so much and BF4 only few know really how much more its gonna require.

With BF4 in mind,i would look at the 7770 if not go bigger.

The gtx650 non ti i have is barely enough enough for 1280x1024/1440x900 low,i still can dip into the 50s sometimes and with a oc touching the 7770 performance wise,it helps but it sure would be best running at least a 7790 or gtx650 ti especially with BF4 almost here.

I bought an ASUS HD 7700 2GB just a few days ago for a second PC in my home. The PC has just an Antec Basiq 430W, but the card is fine for that. Its going to play @ 1680x1050, but I hooked up my 1920x1200 monitor to it out of curiosity. The PC has a Phenom II X4 @ 3.7 Ghz and I OC'd the HD 7770 to 1100Mhz for the GPU and 1250Mhz for the memory. Loaded up Skyrim and the game detected the card and recommend "Ultra" to my surprise. I didn't think it could handle that. I ran around the forest surrounding Riften, plus inside the city for about a half hour and FRAPS showed it keeping between 45-60 FPS, usually around 50-55 FPS. Very impressive for such a modest card. Not only that, but it actually made use of the 2GB of VRAM. ASUS GPU Tweak showed it used up to 1,900 MB of memory, and the game doesn't even have any texture mods! Don't know how it will do with other games yet, but I'm really happy with its Skyrim performance. At the lower resolution I plan to use with I'm pretty sure it can handle anything recent with decent settings.

Skyrim don't take much GPU power to run at all. The 2GB Vram is uneed on that low power of a card like the HD 7770. Even an HD 7850 will not use more than 1GB Vram effectivly.

"When it comes to gaming performance the XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB Core Edition did better than expected with a screen resolution of 1920x1080! We were able to easily play all the current game titles at 1080p with the image quality settings cranked up! There were a few game titles like Skyrim where we felt a minor hiccup here or there when the frame buffer would fill up, but they were few and far between."

It takes more than you think on Ultra settings. Your quote just stated that it could use that VRAM in Skyrim and GPU Tweak's graph showed my card staying well above 1GB the entire time. As with any hardware, usage patterns make a difference. I was just giving my example (and I played a lot of Bethesda games, mostly modded). If it doesn't apply to the O.P. he can ignore it. The anecdote about the power supply might be of use in allaying any concern he might have.
