Hey everyone... I got this weird ass problem here and I'm boggled so I'm hoping one of you has dealt with a similar issue before

About an hour ago I was doing a reboot and as soon as the computer started booting I pressed DEL to go in the BIOS.. it hung there so I pressed reset and the 2nd time around I got in the Bios just fine.

However as of this point my 1st monitor hasn't been turning on (LCD Hyundai using DVI). My 2nd monitor (a CRT 19in) turns on just fine. Everything else is working fine.

Here's what I've done so far :

I shut everything down and turned off my power supply for about 2 minutes.

I gave the insides of my computer a good dusting (although it was already in pretty good order, there isn't any specs of dust left in it now).

I plugged my CRT on the DVI plug using an adapter to test that it wasn't the DVI on the video card.. the CRT came on just fine when I did that.

I checked my connections everywhere.. everything's plugged in just fine

I flashed my bios to the latest version

and after all that it still isn't turning on.. just the CRT still.

as you see in my sig I have a 500w seasonic PSU so I doubt it's the PSU that's running out of power.. and besides why would it all of a sudden not have enough power when it's been working fine for the last months. The problem occured when it hung during the bios and I reset it.. but reflashing didn't solve it.. so what else could I do to solve my problem?

Thanks guys.. appreciate it as always

I also now tried to reset my BIOS by removing the battery and cmos jumper.. and that did not solve the problem

I tried removing a stick of ram.. booting up.. no help

I also alternated the DVI cable (switched ends).. unfortunately I don't have a spare DVI cable to test with.. nor can I test that cable on any other monitor that I have.

i'm at a loss for what to do next now.. hoping for some miracle advice from one of your guru experts ;-)

I'm assuming the LCD is "turning on" but going straight into power save mode. Two things to try. 1) Toggle between the inputs to your LCD (assuming there's a button on front). 2) See if the LCD works off the analog VGA connector.

hey thanks for the tip bro

it was the cable... I don't know why the hell my DVI cable just stopped working.. but when I tried the VGA cable with a vga/dvi adapter.. that worked first shot

i wonder if hyundai will warranty the defective cable now

You need to go in to the nVIDIA driver to enable the second monitor. Then set it to be your primary default display.

Hi, Swap the two monitors. That should show you if it's monitor or something else.
Luck, Jim

I have seen this 100 times before. Check the driver, by default the second video port is disabled on all video cards.
