Here is my situation...
I decided to upgrade to an XP1700 on a SOYO DRAGON plus board. Well, no matter what I did I could not seem to get the board to work when I would install my SB Live X Gamer. The OS would freeze (Win98SE) and I would be stuck.
So, after a week of returning the board, returning the CPU, blahblahblah, I finally decided that the board would just now work with my setup (Radeon 8500, 740 mb pc2100, XP1700, Dx 8.1).
So, I go buy an ASUS AN266-E. I get it to go to the BIOS, and it would lock up after about 3-5 minutes. Every time.
So, I think...well, the only thing that is not replaced is the actual case/PS (previous was a generic case with a 400W PS). So, last night I go get an Antec case with a 350 watt supply, two extra case fans, etc.
Go to start the computer last night, and lo and behold it will run for all of 30 seconds now and turns itself off. I am sure that the answer is right in front of me, but I am honestly so sick and tired of this whole damned 1 hr job taking 2 weeks of my life that I am hoping someone will recognize the facts behind this and pitch in some advice...
BTW...yeah, the CPU fan is hooked up and it is new. replaced the processor and memory once already to be sure they would not be the culprit.
I know someone has to get a smile hearing about my misery....:|:Q
