Dear Community,

over the past days I've been reading and comparing to build my new PC based on Skylake Architecture. Here's what I got so far:

Case: Aerocool DS Cube Gold
CPU: i5 6600k
Motherboard: Asus Z170-Plus
RAM: 16 GB 2666Mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX Black
PSU: 500 Watt Be Quet! Straight Power 10
CPU cooler: EKL Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure
VGA: I will use my GTX 670 Windforce until Pascal as I don't feel comfortable buying 1 Year old VGA's new, that can't handle 4k flawlessly
SSD/HDD: I already have a 850 Pro 250GB and a 300GB 2,5" HDD lying around which i will be using for the build

Alternatively I was thinking:

Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Gene, but is it worth the additional money compared to the Z170-Plus? Also: I read that the Alpine Ridge Controller is only used By Gigabyte at the moment. Could the lack of it be a drawback in the years to come? Also do you know anything about a mATX version of the AsRock Z170 OC coming out, as they have always proved a good alternative to the expensive ROG boards.

CPU: I opted for an i5 because I was hoping to be able to Upgrade to Kabylake in one or two years without having to get a new Mainboard. If I#m not lucky, they will change the socket again as they did with broadwell.
But maybe the 6700k is really worth the Money? Will the i5 Limit me in any way regarding 4k Gaming once I upgrade to a better GPU?

Fans:
200mm Cooler to replace the Case intake: BitFenix Spectre LED 200x200x20mm
140mm Cooler to replace the Case Exhaust:

EKL Alpenföhn 140 Wing Boost red clover to go with the ROG Maximus MoBo
or
Noctua NF-P14s redux-1200 PWM 140mm to go with the Z170-Plus

What I want to do with my Rig:

-all office Applications including 4k@60fps Video should be possible in 4k without much power consumtion and noise (thus the good PSU and low noise fans)

-Gaming @1080p/60hz until I Upgrade (depending on how well the gtx 670 handles)

-OC as soon as the Hardware gets a bit older maybe also before

-4k single GPU Gaming as soon as I Upgrade to a more Powerfull GPU of the likes of 980ti and Titan (or Pascal if it fits)

-keep my rig for aprox. the next 5 Years

So, what are you thoughts? Please let me know
Best Regards

You are going to need a bigger power supply than 500 watts with a 6600k if you plan to overclock and add a powerful GPU in the future. If you don't plan to overclock, why buy the K CPU?

Well I do plan to Overclock. Do you think, that the 600Watt version of the Straight Power 10 will be enough?

Just to say, this was something that came up when I got my Haswell i5, which I've yet to ever overclock. The price spike for the K is negligible (I think it was $10-20 and MicroCenter to go up a step), and it gives me the option, if I ever decide I want to do it. I'd rather spend an extra $10-20 I end up not using than decide I want it and need a new CPU and motherboard.

The 600 watt will probably be ok, but I would suggest the 700 watt. My suggestion is to keep your total power budget to no more than 80% of the power supplies rated watt rating. A 980ti and a 6600k overclocked, both at 100% load would be around 400 watts plus you have the motherboard, fans, hard drives and usb devices which could exceed 80%. The 700 watt would be worth another ~$30 for peace of mind.

That's what I thought as well but looking at forum signatures I found that many people use High Qulity PSU's with less Watt than recommended, even on OC builds. Upon request I was told that the Manufacturers give High Watt recommendations to be on the safe side regarding bad Quality PSU's. According to what I read, a good PSU, such as the Straight Power 10 series, can deliver 500Watt constantly even after getting hotter due to prolonged use. In comparison: A cheap PSU with 500 Watt is measured by Its Peak delivery before shutting down.
