hi. I've found a local deal where I can get the sony vaio SR27k for $1399. Here is the sony link:sony.com. please note this is the one with the pentium 750 and 30Gb harddrive. Does anyone have any experience with this laptop or any of the other slim sony vaios? I already have a desktop and I want a laptop to do the majority of my work on it (with this size I can work just about anywhere I want). thanks for any kind of advice you might give...oh and by the way, my work consists mostly of word processing and some internet surfing...

my gf has the RJ505 slim laptop and its very good in form factor and stability. i dont think you can go wrong with sony laptops.. especially their slim factor ones.

Sony support, RMA, and repair are first rate but Lord help you if something goes wrong out of warranty because you better have a thick wallet.

Get a Vaio with the Transmeta Crusoe for a CPU. I own a Vaio (with a Crusoe, of course)--they're good machines.
