Please explain my lowly modem to me

On a good day, my 56k modem can download at about 6Kb/sec. If I'm also uploading at the same time, does that uploading take away some of my download bandwidth? From a new Morpheus user.

Thanks

But to upload to someone requires a certain download overhead, so yes it will detract from your download speeds. As a 56k user of KaZaA, I don't let anyone download off me.

Uploads and downloads both use bandwidth. If you would be getting 6kb/sec downloads, they will slow down if you are uploading at the same time.

I think GoldenBear misunderstood your question.

yep even on ADSL, 1100kbps download(160+KB) and a 128kbps(13-16KB) and when im uploading full to a site it really messes me up haha, especially in MP gaming lol 🙂
