Please explain levels of Radeon cards-SE, XT, Pro

Can someone tell me how the different levels of Radeon cards rank? For example on a 9600, which is the lowest to highest in terms of quality?

9600
9600 SE
9600 Pro
9600 XT

It's not really a matter of quality it's usually a matter for core/memory speeds.

XT is usually the highest performer, then Pro, then either SE or just the plain numbered card.
