I am ready to finally build a new machine, and have decided on everything but motherboard/chipset. I have ruled out via chipsets from past experience. I like what i see from both intel and sis, but am still undecided. First question. what is the deal with ddr333 and i845g/e? intel says it is not supported, but i have reviews saying that some boards will "unofficially" support it. Does something special hafta happen for this to be? and what does unofficial mean? i would think if it does it, its official... if i have to do something funky to the mb, i don't wanna do it.

Anyways, if nothing else, maybe i can get a recommendation for my machine...
here's what is planned:
P4 2.26 (533 fsb)
512 pc2700 (corsair xms)
gainward gf4 4200 128 mb
sb audigy 5.1
2x60gb maxtor hd

what i want from the motherboard:
ddr333 support
raid controller
usb 2.0
won't need onboard sound or video (but won't complain if its got it).

the EPoX 4G4A+ looks like its got all this (ddr333 unofficially, can someone confirm?)... are there any others out there that fit?

thanks

The EPoX 4G4A+ is an excellent motherboard. With a 2.26B in there, AFAIK, all you would have to do to get DDR333 support is go into the BIOS and set the mem ratio at 4:5. Also, that 2.26B on the 4G4A+ should OC pretty well (I've heard that 2.26Bs can hit 3GHz, though nothing is guaranteed).
