I posted this on motherboards.org:

My budget is about $600 for Mobo/CPU/Ram.

my first objective is a stable yet fast video-editing system ( Adobe Premier Pro)

I will probably won't overclock.
Gaming ability is fine but not my 1st priority.

would like usb 2.0/firewire/ onboard sata

since v-e runs best on a dually and probably out of my price range i would then like to build around a intel P4c or AMD64 processor

I think that abit or asus boards seem to have good reps but i need some input please, thanks.

I think this is what I decided to get.

Abit IC7-G Max3 $184 (initial choice was Asus p4c800e-deluxe)
Intel P4 3.0c $275
Kingston HyperX Series 184 Pin 256MB DDR PC-3500 (x2 for right now) $140

total $599 delivered from Newegg

I already have 2 wd 120 gb 7200/8 drive, case with antec True430, nec1300a,ti4200 128mb,etc

How does that effect the HT ability. I think that is a feature that helps with Adobe Premier Pro.

The 2.4C is HT enabled. All of the "C" CPU's are.

Get a cheaper motherboard. Personally I don't think it's worth it. You'll see bigger dividends by upgrading the RAM and getting a cheaper mb like the IS7 or AI7.
