Hi everybody,
This is related to my earlier thread here but it is not a double post. I decided on a AMD64 socket 754 and have compiled a list of components for the rig. Please evaluate and let me know if there is a better product in terms of quality, reliability and manufacturer support. Any suggestions is appreiciated. This is for my college dorm and I will be generally doing everything with it. Movies, games, photoshop, recreational rendering, you get the idea
. I may also consider doing some o/c but not too much. So without further ado here is the rig.
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
RAM - Corsair Value Select DDR400 PC 3200 512 MB
Case - Aspire X-Alien w/420W PSU <-- like the look on this one
Hard disk - Western Digital WD800JB 80 GB
CPU cooler - Zalman CNPS-7000 AlCu
Sound Card - mobo sound chip
Video Card - BFG Geforece 6800 OC
Optical Drive - Lite-On Black DVD ROM/CDRW drive 48/24/48/16
Keyboard and mouse - Logitech MX510 + Logitech ELite Keyboard
Monitor - Samsung 997DF 19" Flatpanel
Speakers - Logitech Z2200 speakers
The total for the whole system comes out to about $1200. Since I am going to college, i would like to request some ideas as to reducing the price without sacrificing quality too much.
