My 6 year old nephew wants a Nintendo DS for Christmas, and I don't know what is the different between a DS & DSi except that the DSi is $40 CAD more than the DS.

DSi has a camera in it I believe. If all he wants to do is play DS games, get him the regular and spend the money you save on a game or two.

dsi has an sd memory card reader and afaik cannot play GBA games.

Just get him a regular DS lite.
