Yes, this annoys me, especially when the face that's associated with trying desperately to suck up the minute amount of liquid by exerting an extremely high pressure drop. You're not a fish, use a regular straw, or has it ever occurred to you to just drink out of the cup?

Weak rant over.

It's a long plastic tube that's hollow. Not much different from a straw.

As a kid, my grandmother would sometimes take me to museums or state parks; en route, she'd stop at McDonald's for coffee, and I'd always insist on her getting two things, though she never used them:
1) Half-and-half in those little containers. I loved them, tastier than whole milk.
2) The little stirring things.
I wouldn't get coffee, usually soda or orange juice, but I'd still use the little stirrer.
It was just neat to have a mini straw, but then these were twin mini straws. I never had any idea that it offended anyone so deeply.

i don't do it personally as i need my coffee as fast as possible, but i think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to do with their own coffee.

and i think they make the stirrers hallow for a reason, and that would be it.

Damn, I feel a hankering to go drink some coffee with one of those little red straws. Wonder why they made them hollow like straws... probably because they're straws.

i didn't think stirring sticks for coffee were capable of being used as a straw. i know stir sticks for mixed drinks can be, but i thought coffee stir sticks were solid.

Negative. There are two hollow "straw" type things on things on the sides. o_o is what it looks like from top down. But it's too small of a diameter for sucking...I've heard that before.

gonna call you on that. i have seen wooden coffee stirrers before and they weren't hollow.

i was saying that i didn't think coffee stir sticks could be used as a straw as i thought they were solid, and then i noted that wooden ones can't.

so yeh.... :p

disclaimer: i am not a coffee drinker, so i'm not totally down on the stir sticks.
