Okay, long story short. I have a 100gig partitioned into C and D. My D has 74 gigs and C has 25, my C has my programs and Windows on it and my D only has videos, images, and audio.
Doesnt that mean that you would hardly never have to defragment the D because it only contains data? Thats why I did it so when I have to reinstall windows I never have to move my data.
Anyway, lately my D drive has been super slow. Its to the point where I open the D drive and then try and open my video folder or my Kazaa folder and it just hangs, but it will eventually open. Or When I open My D it will just hang and not show the 5 folders inside. Or somtimes it will show the folders, but will take forever to load the pics for the folders that I assigned to it (windows XP customize)
Also, when it hangs like that or doesnt load, then I cant open my start menu in the corner. Im typing this right now and the start button is just sitting there pressed in and my video folder is minimized and I cant maximize it...wierd...?
I defragmented it a week ago and ran a full virus scan to be sure. Whats causing the huge lag? Will I need to reformet my D? If so ill have to burn all data to like DVDr or something....what could be the cause of it? Ive also run Ad-aware and spybot to illiminate any spyware or the like that could be doing it...
by the way...its been five minutes and I still cant open start or mazimize my video folder...typical problem lately...usually have to alt/control/delete..
