I've never built a system before but I'm finally going to go ahead and do it. I don't do much gaming but the computer is going to have to last me a while; also, quiet components are very important to me. Therefore, I just want a stable system but with minimal cooling (i.e., no OCing). And for what it's worth, I'm bringing it to college next year for comp. eng..

Here's what I have so far:
Case - Lian-Li PC10
PS - Q-Technology 300W PSU from quietpc.ca
CD/DVD-RW - Pioneer DVR-104

Here's the stuff that I'm pretty sure I will buy:
HD - Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB
DVD-ROM - Toshiba 16x (since the Pioneer is loud as hell when I put a disk in)
Sound - SB Audigy Platinum (because of the front inputs)
NIC - Intel EtherExpress Pro (also maybe a 56k modem later on)
OS - Windows XP Pro
a floppy drive

Here's the stuff that I really need advice on:
CPU - Intel 2.0GHz Northwood
Mobo - Asus P4T-E (really not sure about this & the memory, but I'd really prefer not to have a fan on the mobo)
Memory - 512 MB of generic PC800 RDRAM
Video - ATI Radeon 7500 64MB (I have this right now because I can run it without a fan but I don't know if I'll put it in the new system. A silent video card is the most important for me, but I would also like a decent performer)

Also, I'll be buying my parts from www.ncix.com (since I live in Canada) except for the OS, which will probably be off eBay.

Thanks

If you do have a fan on mobo, it's easy to unplug too. And if it runs too hot then, a northbridge heatsink is like $8 or so.
