hey

i am about ready to purchase all my items for my new system.

*256MB Crucial DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 2.5V ? 32Meg x 64
(from my ECS K7S5A system)
*SHUTTLE SN41G2 BARE SYSTEM (Retail)
*AMD ATHLON XP 1700+ 1.47GHZ (AXDA1700DLT3C) OEM W/O COOLING FAN (1 YEAR WARRANTY)
*SAMSUNG 15"/15V SYNCMASTER 152T
*SAMSUNG 32X/10X/40X + 12X EIDE INTERNAL CDRW/DVD COMBO DRIVE (Anyone know how reliable these are?)
*GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT ULTRA700TV 128MB GEFORCE4 TI-4400 DDR 4XAGP W/TV&DVI*Golden sample
*80GB Maxtor HD
(old)
*30GB WD HD
(old)

I don't plan on doing any overclocking so I can have the highest amount of stability possible... will the 200W Shuttle PSU support all of this?

I can't decide whether to use a Sapphire 128MB 9500, or the gainward GF4 4200... i wanted to use the 4200 so I could plug in my xbox to the video card. does the 9500 support that?

get the 9500 instead, much better support when it comes to out putting to TV.

No, you need the 9700 AIW for that. Can the Gainward do that? (too lazy to look it up myself)

only way you'll fit 2 hard drives is to use the floppy bay.

I think the power supply should do that. I'd go for 512MB ram though.

I did a system sb51g w/ 512 ram/ ati 9700 pro/ 80GB wd SE/ memeory card reader, and the power supply handles it fine

i would get lower latency ram...try cl 2
512mb would be nice...you can get that for around 120

I would at least get another stick of 256MB DDR so that you can use Dual Channel DDR (ie-populate 2 slots instead of 1 for the performance boost)

The power supply will not have a problem powering all your stuff, afterall, Shuttle would probably not make it have such a low wattage if it could not support everything it needs to.

I wish you the best of luck.

I've built a LOT of computers. Recently, I've built two SK41Gs.
Here are the specs:
Both are SK41G XPCs
Wife's / Mine
1800+ / 2100+
Crucial 256megs / PNY 256megs
40gb 7200k rpm hd / 100gb WD-SE hd
CDRW-DVD combo / CDRW
AIW Radeon / AIW 9700 Pro + TV Wonder
Firewire DVD-RAM drive to share between them

These PCs are the most stable PCs I've EVER built. Period!

The ONLY think I'm planning to change in them is the Case/CPU cooling fan. I'm going with a quieter model (assuming I can find something quieter). Neither computer has crashed or locked up. EVER! It's a miracle! Especially considering how much trouble ATI usually gives with the drivers & software bundle. A FREAKING MIRACLE!!!

Now, I know this thread was posted with the SN41G2 in mind, but don't overlook the SK41G in your rush to have the newest model.
