AMD Thunderbird 700 CPU
Gigabyte GA-7ZM motherboard
Hercules 3D Prophet II 64MB video card
IBM 75GXP 30GB hard drive
Mushkin with Siemens Infineon PC133 128MB memory
Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer sound card
Fong Kai FK-601 case
LG Electronics 995E 19" monitor
Kenwood TrueX 72X CDROM drive
Soundworks Digital speakers
Netgear FA310TX network card
LS-120 Superdisk drive

Please tell me whatever you may think about any of these components and how they may work together. I may upgrade to a 1GHZ Thunderbird and 256MB RAM a little ways down the road, by the way. ANY feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hmm... you might want to hold off for a month or so if you can stand to wait. In just a little while we will see the NV20, Rampage, Radeon Maxx and G800 - which will be blistering fast (we hope).

Looks good, but I would reconsider the Herc 64MB (2d SUCKS!) and the Kenwood CD-ROM (lotta problems). If you can find another brand 64MB video card I would get it (ASUS would be good). Toshiba and Plextor are also good CD-ROMs.

Echem. I have a Herc 64meg and my 2D has no problems. So there!

That system looks pretty good...but if you want to overclock you might look at a Coppermine 700E. Most of the ones w/ cB0 stepping have been hitting 933MHz+

I've been reading threads on the 2D quality and ghosting effects on Hercules GF 2 boards so you may want to search for those threads and give them a read.

How about a DVD Rom drive with that? I know they're pricey now. Hell, they weren't pricey about six or so months ago, though.

Looks like a decent setup.

I beleive the LG electronics 995E is not anything close to a flat screen monitor, which may or may not bug you. Personaly I cant stand any monitor that doesnt have a flat screen. Just something for you to consider.

Actualy X-Gamers are digital on board, the SB Live needs a daughter card for digital output.

Trinitron -- actually, the new SB Live Values have digital on board, only the first generation ones do not. The X-Gamer is exactly the same card.
