Looks fine, the PSU is overkill for a single card system, a 500W PSU would be more than enough even for one with a x1900XTX in it.

Why a SLI board with a ATI card?

Looks fine to me, with one thing I would change, why 4 gigs RAM? been said before, by me and MANY others, that 4 gigs is more than 99% of users need. heck, unless you are running X64, or some other OS that handles that much RAM, its stupid. Win XP will only recognize 3 gigs.... and you are still stuck with the 2T command rate.

So, drop some RAM, 2 gigs is the sweet spot right now. you could use that money to get a beefier pump for your watercooling loop. What ramsinks you gonna use?

Otherwise, I hope you arent planning on going Xfire, coz thats an SLI board through and through. something to consider (though if you are sticking with one card, the XTX does seem to be the best)

Finally, you have far too much money, give me some.

Bloody hell, how'd i miss that! 4GB of RAM is slower than 2GB of RAM. Buy one set now and if you can get more than 2GB used buy more then.

There are a few places that had them this morning, check the video forum threads about availibility.

The extra 2GB of memory is wasted if you're just using it to play games.

If you plan on upgrading by adding a second video card, either get a 7900GT or 7900GTX, or go for a Crossfire motherboard.

Kat- ok I was planning on moving down to 2gb.

heh. I just got into college and was talking to the parents about building a new desktop and asked them how much they would be willing to fund me... I told them it would only be fair to match what they paid for my sister's laptop back 5 years ago so... I have $2700 to burn. Plus I have about $1000 of my own I will probably spend on monitors and stuff.

Well, your options are: change to 7900GTX, if you can find one, or get a crossfire board, DFI make one, seems farily similar to the SLI-DR or thereabouts, so cant be too bad.

you could look at beefing one of those rads up to a dual 120mm, you could use that GPU to fry an egg.

other things to look at: a spare HDD for backups and whatnot? otherwise, just buy that, and enjoy (thats one of the nicest systems one can buy....)

kat- i'm going for a dual 120mm rad :)

I think I would rather go for the 7900gtx... I just need to find one.

Frankly, IMO, it's not worth going for SLI/Crossfire. The law of diminishing returns kicks in pretty hard. Spend money where it's useful.

the x1900xt is a great card and xtx is even better if u have the spare cash. the epsilon 600 psu is great with the dfi board and is not overkill. view my signature for my system specs.

if I can get a 7900gtx or x1900xtx which would be preferable for a single setup... I will probably be watercooling the card

The 7900GTX, but it's pretty rare right now.

Look in the video forum, if noise isn't an issue i'd go 1900XTX.

It's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Both are fantastic cards.
