Hi,

I would like your input before I order these parts. I'm not an overclocker or gamer. I just want to end up with a solid and fast system. I will be running 1 SATA and 1 IDE hard drive. Does everything seem compatible with my parts list, or do you have any other recommendations?

I still need to pick out a case and power supply. You can help me with that too. I really don't want the type that has the door in front of the drive bays cause of the front mount Soundblaster.

MSI K8N Neo MS7030
AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1MB L2 Cache, 64-bit Processor
Corsair Value Select 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 x 2
XFX Extreme Gamers Edition 6800 128MB
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Audio System

Thank you for your help.

Everything looks fine except the processor; switch to a Newcastle (the one with a +200MHz clock and -512k L2)

"lol...u're not a gamer but your rig says otherwise. good parts, what was the overall price?"

$126 MSI K8N Neo MS7030
$293 AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1MB L2 Cache, 64-bit Processor
$152 Corsair Value Select 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 x 2
$276 XFX Extreme Gamers Edition 6800 128MB
$169 Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Audio System
$1016 Total before tax, all parts from Newegg.

I still have to buy a DVD/CD burner, SATA hard drive, and the case and PSU.

Really, I'm not a gamer. I need the dual DVI for my 2 19" flat panels.

Get the following (I'm just giving you links for easy reference)

Mobo- MSI (No sense in changing that, it seems like a nice motherboard)
CPU- A64 Newcastle 3400+ (Same if not more performance than the clawhammer core, and it's cheaper)
RAM- Corsair 512MB x 2 (I think it's the same as you mentioned, but this module has a lower latency, they come in 3's and 2.5's)
Video- Chaintech 6800 (I know the memory/core speeds are not listed, but do a google search on this particular model, not only does it have a bigger cooling sink than the picture shows, but the core is clocked faster, and it uses 2.2 ns memory, which is able to be clocked/overclocked faster)
Sound Card- Audigy 2 ZS (Great card, got one myself :))
