I have an AMD 3500 CPU and a BFG 6800 Ultra AGP. Would I see a very large improvement if I changed my MB to an SLI one and installed 2 BFG's 6800 Ultras with 512 megs of video memory each? Should I go ahead and replace the CPU also, for an even bigger improvement? Thanks for any response.

You would see an improvement by going SLI, however, I would wait until the next gen GPU's come out and then upgrade. Chances are the next GPU's will offer much better performance.

Yes, after some more research I would agree with you. I will look at some of the threads here in the future before I post anymore questions. Thank you.

why even upgrade? i can play most games at the highest settings, and your computer is a lot better than mine (i do overclock a lot though) i would wait a while, maybe when the skt M2 processors come out, thats when im upgrading.

In gaming, you'd get more FPS, but you probably won't notice it in game (unless you happen to be playing Doom3 at Ultra quality settings...then it's a maybe). If you're doing heavy computational/graphical work, then yes, you might notice a difference. If you just have money to blow, I'd be more than happy to give you my address to send any excess cash 😛

I think the opposite is true. You won't notice a difference EXCEPT in FPS games. SLI is made in order to render graphics as quickly as possible. Even then, a 10-50 FPS increase is not going to make your gamming experience that much more enjoyable.

In fact, unless you're uber sensitive you probably won't notice a thing. You'd be better off upgrading you internet to a T1 line if you want a better gamming experience.
